Dianne Edleman, PhD

0875167985 | 9780875167985 Gift Paperback: 88pg - Color Photography | September 2004 | $16.95
Subject: Self-Help / Death, Grief, Berevement

John Muir once said, “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks" -- which is perhaps the real reason many people turn to nature in times of despair and personal grief. Deeply saddened by the sudden death of her mother, New Thought writer, Dianne Edleman discovered through spiritual mind treatment and her digital camera, a way of transforming grief into a work of art and an entirely new way of life. Inspired by grief but not restricted to it, Fitzpatrick Lane shares with the reader a unique way of immersing oneself with nature to glean insights into truths of life. At the same time, it demonstrates how contemplation in general, and spiritual mind treatment in particular, can be transformed into a work of art.

FROM THE AUTHOR:

The loss was acutely painful. The grief would prove to be intense. It would also, however, prove to be life transforming. I re-enrolled in the Foundations class in Sonoma, California. When the requisite course project was assigned, I chose to depict what, if anything, would come of watching for signs of communication from her mother.

At first, nothing seemed to happen. Then one day, a visiting friend picked up a digital camera I had bought on impulse a year earlier and showed me how its memory chip fit into my laptop. Immediately, an image appeared on the screen. It was a picture of my mother smiling up at me. Interpreting the picture as a loving prod from my mother, I began photographing the local countryside. I took the camera everywhere—into the woods, out to the coast, up to the mountains. Later, I contemplated the most compelling images as if they were koans, knowing somehow that they would reveal deeper meaning to all that had happened.
